The following types of columns are available in Kahootz databases. You can have as many of each type of column as you need.
|Text||Short piece of text (max 255 chars)||Supports input masks. (TIP: Avoid using these for numbers or dates, as they won't sort correctly - use the special field types for those instead)|
|Long Text||Longer plain text (max 50,000 chars)|
|Formatted Text||Long text with formatting options (bold, italics, lists etc)|
|Phone Number||Supports any numbers, and also hyphens, brackets, +, 'ext'.||Whilst plain number columns will remove leading zeros on numbers, Phone number columns will keep them as they are significant|
|Email address||Requires @ sign and one dot after @ sign||
Displayed as a clickable mailto link. It does check the address is of a valid format, but it does not check that it actually works.
|Date||Enter just date using dropdowns, popup date selector and 'Now' button||Requires all three components to be entered|
|Date and Time||Enter date and time using dropdowns, popup date selector and 'Now' button||Requires all five components to be entered. (leaving time blank will default to midnight)|
|Time||Enter just time using dropdowns, popup date selector and 'Now' button||Requires all five components to be entered|
|Month and Year||Enter Month and Year, without day element||Requires both components to be entered|
|Select One||Pick one value from supplied list (eg: yes / no, statuses, gender)||
|Select Many||Pick many values form supplied list||Choose whether to display list as horizontal buttons, vertical buttons or a 'smart list' - a dropdown where you can start typing to restrict the list to options that match your typing|
|User||Pick one or more people from an automatic list of workspace members||Option to control single or multiple selection. Will only be shown if people can see the membership list of your workspace (see Workspace Settings > Settings)|
|File||Ability to upload one or more files to be embedded in this database row.||
Option to specify maximum number of files allowed.
|Rating||Get feedback from users who are viewing the row, and they’ll display the average rating and how many votes have been made.||Anyone who can view a row can submit a rating. If you want people to be able to view the row and current rating but NOT submit ratings, then make the rating column a ‘locked’ column, and restrict who can modify locked columns.|
|Picture||Upload and embed a picture in the database entry|
|URL / Web Address||Enter valid web address, and optional text to be displayed for the link||eg: link http://www.kahootz.com, text to display 'Kahootz Website'|
|Map||Enter any text||Text will be displayed in a link to lookup that text on a Google Maps popup. Works well for addresses and postcodes, but also company names, sites etc.|
|Link to workspace item||Ability to create a link to an existing item elsewhere in the workspace|
|Evaluated Column||Special complicated calculations - see list of available evaluations for details.||Evaluated columns cover complex pre-defined calculations,. For simpler calculations you can enter yourself, you can mark Text, Formatted Text or Number columns as 'calculated columns'. See Calculated Columns in a database|
|Entry ID||Automatic number for the entry, starting at 1.||Numbers for deleted entries are not re-used, with the exception of deleting the last entry in a database.|
|Entry Creator's Name||Shows the automatically stored creator's name|
|Entry Creation Date||Shows the date when the entry was created|
|Entry Creation Date and Time||Shows the date and time of when the entry was created|
|Entry Modifier's Name||Shows the name of the last modifier.||If the entry has been added, but not edited, the modification information will be the same as the creation information.|
|Entry Modify Date||Shows the date of when the entry was modified||If the entry has been added, but not edited, the modification information will be the same as the creation information.|
|Entry Modify Date and Time||Shows the date and time of when the entry was last modified.||If the entry has been added, but not edited, the modification information will be the same as the creation information.|
All column types can be marked as "Value required", which will mean that people must enter a value when adding or modifying each entry, making that field compulsory.
